Inter Faith Week 2020

Inter Faith Week, which begins on Remembrance Sunday (8 November), is a national initiative designed to strengthen faith relations at all levels. The week aims to increase awareness of the faith and non-faith communities in the UK and celebrate the positive contribution members make to their neighbourhoods and the wider society.

What’s happening in Kirklees?

Despite the coronavirus pandemic, individuals, community groups and faith institutions have been working in partnership with Kirklees Council’s Cohesion Team to plan a timetable of events. You can view the timetable of events online.

  • Places of Worship are NOT closed – they are open for silent prayer, albeit services are not (supposed) to be allowed. That said, who will police that particular rule, given the number of such buildings throughout the UK?

in normal times this is a hugely popular event. People of any faith and none come together for prayers and social events. There is a lovely memorial to a Sikh soldier in Greenhead Park. The prayer could be said by anyone. A pity places of worship are closed but hopefully life will return to normal soon.
