Information on voting safely this year
We’re working hard to make sure our polling stations are COVID-19 secure and we’re putting all the right measures in place to protect voters and staff from any potential spread of the virus. Read more on this on Kirklees Council’s website.
However, we understand that this year you may still be more reluctant than normal to visit a polling station to vote and you don’t have to. Postal voting means that you do not need to go your polling station if you would prefer not to or can’t.
We’ll send your ballot paper to your home ahead of the election and you just need to follow the instructions that come with it and post your vote to us as soon as possible as it must arrive to us before 10pm on 6 May.
To apply, you just need to do one of the following:
- Email your name and address details to electoral.registration@kirklees.gov.uk and we will send you an application form
- Call Electoral Services Team on 01484 221650
- Download an application form from the Kirklees Council website
- The deadline for receiving an application for a postal vote is 5pm on 20 April 2021.
If you’re not yet registered to vote, visit Kirklees Council’s website now. The deadline for submitting a registration application is 19 April 2021.
You can also apply for somebody to vote on your behalf, known as a proxy. For more information on proxy voting and to apply you can visit our website.
If you have COVID-19 symptoms, have tested positive or have been identified as a contact of someone who has, please do not visit a polling station on 6 May 2021 to vote if you have not completed your required period of self-isolation.
Contact our Electoral Services Team as soon as possible so we can make arrangements for you to vote in the safest way possible.
