Changes proposed to Hackney Carriage and Private Licensing Policy
Following the publication of the Statutory Taxi and Private Hire Vehicle Standards from the Department of Transport (DfT). We are consulting on proposed changes to our Hackney Carriage and Private Licensing Policy.
The proposed changes, detailed on the council website, are now open for consultation.
Is the consultation open to everyone?
Residents are invited to comment alongside licensed trade, responsible authorities and ward councillors. Similar consultations will be taking place with local authorities across the country.

Results will be collated and presented to the panel for consideration, following the end of the consultation period in December.
Councillor Will Simpson, Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate said:
“This consultation provides an opportunity for the residents of Kirklees and anyone who uses the services of Hackney carriages and taxis in the borough to have their say on the proposed changes to the licencing policy.
“It’s important those who use these services have an opportunity to have their thoughts and opinions heard alongside those who provide the service.”
The consultation period will run until Monday 6 December 2021.
