What is Get Online Week?

Get Online Week is a digital inclusion campaign to support people who don’t have the access or knowledge to experience the benefits of the internet and digital technologies.

A lack of digital skills and access can have a huge negative impact on a person’s life, including poorer health outcomes, increased loneliness and social isolation.  Over the last two years in particular, we’ve realised how vital digital skills are to our wellbeing and safety.

When is Get Online Week?

This week, 18th-24th October, we want to highlight some of the support Kirklees Council has available to anyone wishing to become more digitally included, or support a friend or family member to engage with technology.

What activities can I get involved in?

As part of Get Online Week, we are running the following educational sessions across Kirklees. At all of these sessions you can:

  • Learn some basic digital skills.
  • Top up what you already know.
  • Get help with any issues.
  • Try out one of our tablet devices.

What else can I get involved in?

The council is also encouraging residents who are comfortable using technology to enlist in Digital Champions training.  This training is free to anyone who lives or works in Kirklees, and will help people inspire and develop others’ digital skills.  Residents can register for Digital Champion training online as a ‘Digital Skills’ lifelong learning course. What else can I get involved in?
