We are proud to support Children’s Mental Health Week 2022

This national event, which runs from February 7 to 13, aims to help children of all ages – and there are lots of places where support and advice is available.

Do you need support?

Here are some organisations and sites that can provide advice and support.

  • This year’s theme for Children’s Mental Health Week is Growing Together. There are lots of tips and resources on the Children’s Mental Health Week website.
  • In Kirklees there is a partnership of local wellbeing providers all working together to support children, young people and their families to thrive and be healthy. Find out more on the Thriving Kirklees website.
  • Every Mind Matters helps support children and young people to give them the best chance to stay mentally healthy and help them cope with whatever changes they may face. Visit NHS Every Mind Matters for advice and to see the signs that something may be wrong.

Cllr Viv Kendrick, our Cabinet member for Children, said:

“No child or family should have to face mental health problems alone. That’s why it is vitally important we provide support and guidance for children, young people and families, especially given the challenges of the pandemic.

“The need for effective early interventions in the lives of children and young people who are suffering with mental health issues is one of the most pressing social needs.

“It can be difficult to know if there is something upsetting a child or young person, so support must be available and accessible. We want all children in Kirklees to have the best start in life and I encourage everyone to seek help if they notice signs that a child or young person is struggling.”
