Most common boiler problems can be fixed in a couple of minutes. Work through the checks below before booking a repair.

1. Check the pressure gauge If the needle is below 1 bar, the boiler has lost pressure. Top up using the filling loop underneath the boiler. The needle should sit between 1 and 1.5 bar when cold.
2. Reset the boiler Hold the reset button on the front of the boiler for 5 seconds. Wait a minute and try again.
3. Bleed your radiators If radiators are cold at the top but warm at the bottom, use a bleed key to release trapped air. Hold a cloth under the valve to catch drips.
4. Check the thermostat and timer Make sure the room temperature is set high enough and the timer is switched on. If the display is blank, the batteries may need replacing.
5. In winter, check the condensate pipe If the white plastic pipe running out from the boiler is frozen, pour warm (not boiling) water over it to thaw it.
