Labour has taken control of Kirklees Council following the results of the 2022 local elections. The authority was in no overall control going into this year’s elections.
A third of all 69 seats were up for election with one seat in all of Kirklees’ 23 wards going to the polls on Thursday 5 May 2022. The results for each ward in full can be viewed on Kirklees Council’s website.
In summary, the full breakdown of all seats is now: Labour Party: 36 seats (+3), Conservative Party: 18 seats (-1), Liberal Democrat: eight seats (-1), Green Party: 3 seats (no change), Independents: 4 seats (-1).
Following the count today (Friday 6 May 2022), the council is now controlled by Labour after gaining the majority of seats.
