Gustavo The Shy Ghost Storytime, Storywalks & Crafts
When? Monday 24 October, 1 pm – 4 pm

Join us for a fun afternoon based on the award-winning and much-loved children’s book called Gustavo The Shy Ghost by Mexican Author and Illustrator Flavia Z. Drago.
Take part in a group storytime, reading Gustavo The Shy Ghost. Then craft time! We’ll be making monster masks and an offering to take to Gustavo’s Day of the Dead violin concert. Followed by a Librarian led family story walk to Gustavo’s party from Holmfirth Library and back.
Spooky Barn at Oakwell Hall
When? Tuesday 25– Sunday 30 October, 10am – 3 pm daily

Cost? £3 per child
Join us this Halloween in our Spooky Barn at Oakwell for some ghoulish goings on. From creepy crafts to terrifying tales and trails, we have lots to keep the whole family entertained. Don’t leave without saying hello to our resident ghost, the mysterious William Batt.

Halloween Fun Trail

Get outdoors and enjoy our fun family trail around the ground of Cliffe house. The trail is family and buggy friendly, something the whole family can enjoy. When you have collected all the clues don’t forget to return to the food kiosk to collect your prize!

Pumpkin Picking

Come along to our pumpkin patch, pick your favourite pumpkin and carve it while you’re here. Carving will be undercover on the lawn, so no need to worry about the weather, though wellies are advised – it can get muddy! Open to all ages, parental supervision required at all times.

Day of the Dead Activity Afternoon

The Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) is a Mexican festival to celebrate life and remember the dead. The festival focuses on ancestors, family, relations, friends, and even pets. It is a time to share memories and stories of good times together.
Celebrations are colourful and vibrant with an emphasis on enjoying life and appreciating happy times. Kirklees Libraries will be hosting a number of family-friendly events during the October half term to celebrate the festival.
