Family fun at our libraries

One Love Storytrail

Where? Greenhead Park – meet at the Bandstand, Huddersfield, HD1 4DT

When? Thursday 1 June 2023

Kirklees Libraries spring story trails are inspired by the heart-warming picture book One Love. Adapted from one of Bob Marley’s most beloved songs, One Love offers an upbeat testament to the amazing things that can happen when we all get together with one love in our hearts. This event aims to bring the joyful spirit and unforgettable lyrics of his music to life for a new generation. Find Kirklees Libraries in the bandstand at Greenhead Park. Drop in between 12 and 4 to collect a trail sheet and explore the park to discover the gorgeous illustrations. Recommended for families with children up to age 8.

Oakwell Orchestra Trail

When? 27 May – 4 June, 10 am – 4 pm

Where? Oakwell Country Park

Pick up your trail map from the visitor centre shop and make some music!

Louise’s Art Workshop

When? Tuesday 30 May, 12 pm – 3 pm

Where? Tolson Museum

Pond dipping

Enjoy this fun 60 minute session exploring the ponds at Cliffe House, looking out for minibeasts, bugs, and all kinds of pond life, all while learning about the environment. Suitable for all ages. Online booking recommended.

Bushcraft

When? Wednesday 31 May

Where? Cliffe House

Cost? £8 per person

Enjoy the great outdoors whilst roasting marshmallows and making garlic bread twists over an open fire. All washed down with hot chocolate (please advise us of any special dietary requirements). Open to children age 6+ and adults. 90 minute instructor led session, all equipment provided. Online booking recommended.

Archery

Climbing wall

Cost? £4 for 4 climbs

Test your skill and strength on our climbing wall. Suitable for children age 6+. Fully qualified
instructor led session. All equipment provided. No advance booking required.

Adventure playground

Cost? Free to enter

Let your young ones explore our woodland adventure playground with ropes, swings, slides and a tree house! No
booking required.

Family Nature Trail

When? Tuesday 30 May – Friday 2 June

Where? Cliffe House

Cost? £2.50 per person

Get outdoors and enjoy our fun family trail around the grounds of Cliffe House. The trail is family and buggy friendly,
something the whole family can enjoy. When you have collected all the clues don’t forget to return to the food kiosk to collect your prize! (1 prize per paid trail sheet).

Feeling peckish?

Our Food Kiosk will be serving a variety of hot and cold food and drinks. Open 10am – 4pm from Tuesday 30 May to Friday 2 June.
