A Kirklees residential home for vulnerable children has been rated as outstanding by Ofsted.

The council-run care home which caters for children and young people with sensory impairment, learning disabilities and/or physical disabilities – was hailed by government inspectors when they visited in March of this year.

The Ofsted report says:

The home cannot be named for safeguarding reasons. However, it provides medium to long-term care and was also judged as outstanding on its previous inspection.

Cllr Viv Kendrick, Cabinet member for Children, said:

“The children in this home have a range of additional needs and they are receiving a fantastic level of support.

“Staff do everything possible to nurture every individual, to improve their outcomes and to help them fulfil their potential.

“In Kirklees, thanks to close working between the council and partners, we are transforming our wider services and support for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

“Our children deserve the best standards of care in a happy and loving environment. We’re delighted that Ofsted have praised the commitment and innovation being shown in this home on an everyday basis.”
