A Kirklees residential home for vulnerable children has been rated as outstanding by Ofsted.
The council-run care home which caters for children and young people with sensory impairment, learning disabilities and/or physical disabilities – was hailed by government inspectors when they visited in March of this year.
The Ofsted report says:
- Children’s individual personalities and characteristics are celebrated
- The manager knows intricate details of all the children’s needs and uses sophisticated ways to understand their behaviour and emotions
- The manager and carers know all the children well and their love for them is evident throughout the home
- Carers make excellent efforts to involve families, helping families to make a significant contribution to their children’s care
- Children do exceptionally well in school and their progress is evident
- The home contributes to significantly improved outcomes and positive experiences for children and young people who need help, protection and care
The home cannot be named for safeguarding reasons. However, it provides medium to long-term care and was also judged as outstanding on its previous inspection.

“Our children deserve the best standards of care in a happy and loving environment. We’re delighted that Ofsted have praised the commitment and innovation being shown in this home on an everyday basis.”
