Families with additional needs have enjoyed an extra level of support thanks to an event staged in Dewsbury.
Local Offer Live brought together a whole host of services for Kirklees children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
The event, which was free to visit, covered support from education, health, social care and communities.
It was the perfect chance to discover what’s available for people aged 0-25 with SEND. There were also workshops about important areas like approaches to parenting and how mainstream schools support pupils with additional needs.
The council hosted Local Offer Live at Dewsbury Town Hall, where more than 300 people came along to find out more.
Cllr Elizabeth Reynolds, Cabinet member for Learning and Aspiration, said:
“We’re delighted that so many families attended Local Offer Live and found it a rewarding experience.
“Our aim was to ensure families knew all about the services and activities across Kirklees that support children and young people with additional needs.
“Local Offer Live was a great way to share information, answer questions and help local people, all in one convenient and central place.
“We want our children to access the many opportunities offered by the council and other, local organisations. This improves their outcomes and helps them to enjoy happy, healthy lives.”
