Library Adventures: Spooky Edition! 👻
Library Adventures is a free, year-round reading for pleasure programme for children aged 4 – 11. Your quest is to journey through the haunting Library Adventure pack. The spooky pack is full of eerie crafts, chilling reading suggestions, creepy facts, and ghoulish creative activities. You can collect spine-tingling stickers, bewitching bookmarks, haunted certificates, and more throughout the year as you visit the different themes.

Storytime at Kirklees Libraries
A friendly and fun session with stories and crafts. A great interactive way to develop children’s language and social skills while meeting with other parents and carers. Suitable for babies and children under 5.

Love Exploring @ Oakwell Hall
Download the free Love Exploring App and get ready for a Spooky Augmented Reality Walk! Search for scary skeletons, mix with mummies and zone in on zombies! These creepy characters love to come out during spooky season but don’t worry, they prefer dancing to scaring! Watch them bust some breaking moves!

Spooky Barn at Oakwell Hall
Join us in Oakwell’s Spooky Barn to make halloween inspired crafts, enjoy our games and story books and test yourself in our creepy challenge!
Tickets needed for children aged 3-16, accompanying adults do not require a ticket.
Quieter sessions are: Wednesday 30th October at 10am & Thursday 31st October at 2pm. These will have lower levels of background music and less sensory distraction.

Pumpkin picking
Come along and enjoy a spooky Halloween special at Cliffe House, pick your own pumpkin and carve out your own spooky design.

Halloween Fun Trail
Get outdoors and enjoy our family nature trail around the ground of Cliffe House. The trail is family and buggy friendly, something the whole family can enjoy. When you have collected all the clues don’t forget to return to the food kiosk to collect your prize. (*1 prize per paid trail sheet).

Bushcraft
Book on for our fantastic instructor led Bushcraft activity. This is the perfect family activity for all to sit around a campfire toasting marshmallows, making & cooking your own garlic bread twist, all washed down with a warming hot chocolate.

Archery
Join our activity instructors in learning how to draw the arrow, balance the bow & fire at a distance target – Challenge your family members as to who can score the greatest points. All under cover so no need to worry about damp conditions.

Spooktacular events happening around Kirklees
Halloween fun at the Park Cafe
Treat your little monsters to a Halloween-themed lunch box, a trick-or-treat goodie bag, and a thrilling quiz trail around the park. To join in the fun, please book in advance, then simply pop into the café on the day to pay for and collect the quiz trail sheet. Once you’ve completed the trail, return for a scrumptious lunch and treats.

Free family cycle sessions
Join fully qualified, DBS-checked cycling instructors for some fun cycling sessions this half term.
Got a bike that needs some basic TLC? Bring it down on any day and a qualified mechanic will do their best to get it back up and running. Bike maintenance service on a first-come, first-served basis, during session times.
We have balance bikes, pedal bikes and scooters available to use. Children will get a chance to learn to ride or improve their riding skills in these fun sessions, run by qualified cycling instructors.
We also have adult bikes available so grown ups can join in the fun. Non-riders welcome!
Plus.. each session will start with a chance to find out about safety around fireworks with a fantastic talk by the Slaithwaite Fire Fighters.

Monday and Tuesday – Children aged 4-7 yrs.
Wednesday and Thursday – Children aged 8-11 yrs.
Grown ups get a chance to ride at every session!
