Meet Leah

One of the success stories of true collaboration is Leah, who was introduced to Community Plus by her Employment Coach at REAL Employment. Working with Community Connector Joy Cummings-Douglas, they explored Leah’s passion for food, despite her sight impairment limiting her access.

Joy built a strong relationship with the local mobile food club at Cowlersley and invited Leah to try it out. Initially accompanying Leah, Joy introduced her to the other volunteers. Leah quickly adapted to the role, packing over 80 bags a week to support local families. Leah’s involvement has been a source of joy and purpose, helping her support the community she loves.

REAL Employment

Leah’s confidence has grown since meeting Joy, and this support, alongside REAL Employment, will help her develop the skills to secure paid employment. REAL Employment aims to support adults aged 18+ with learning disabilities, autism, and/or additional needs into paid, sustainable employment. They match interests and skills to suitable jobs.
