Ten brand new council bungalows have been completed at Sixth Avenue in Hightown, Liversedge, providing high-quality, affordable homes for local residents.

Delivered by Kirklees Council, this brand-new development brings ten one and two-bedroom bungalows to a small piece of council land, helping to meet the growing demand for social housing.

Built and landscaped by the council’s appointed contractor, Ellison Construction, the homes are now fully finished to a moving-in standard, complete with driveways, gardens and greenery. Each property features triple glazing, solar PV panels, heat-recovery systems and EV charging points, resulting in another energy-efficient council development helping to improve the councils housing stock and investing in homes for the future.

Councillor Moses Crook, Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Transport and Housing, said:

“It’s brilliant to see these new bungalows completed and ready for residents to call home. They’re modern, comfortable and energy-efficient, built to a high standard and designed with residents in mind. Schemes like Sixth Avenue make a real difference, giving people in Kirklees the chance to live in a home they can afford, in a place they already know. I’m happy to see another excellent example of how we’re investing in Kirklees and creating sustainable homes that will last for generations.”

This development supports the council’s broader ambition to deliver new quality homes, raise living standards for tenants and create sustainable, energy-efficient housing across Kirklees. Sixth Avenue forms part of the council’s investment in building homes that are safe, comfortable and built to last. These homes will be allocated through the council’s usual housing process, based on local need and priority.
