Festive Storytelling at Slaithwaite Library
A festive event for all the family to enjoy. Join professional storyteller Noel Watkins for a magical selection of seasonal stories and songs.
Meet Jack Turnip, discover what happens when the frost giant meets summer, join in with the Jack Frost rap and hear the true story of Father Christmas.
The event is free but places should be pre-booked, and children must be accompanied by an adult.

Library Adventures
Your quest is to journey through your Library Adventures pack with six fantastic themes to explore. The Adventurer pack is full of fun crafts, reading suggestions, facts, and creative activities. You can collect stickers, bookmarks, certificates and more throughout the year.
There are separate versions of the Library Adventures pack for older and younger children. Just pick the pack which best suits your Library Adventurer when you arrive at the library.
All you need to join the Library Adventures journey, is a Kirklees library card. A library card is free and can be obtained online or in person at any Kirklees Library. No ID required.

Santa in the Barn for SEND Families
Join us for a magical festive experience designed especially for SEND families. Make memories together with creative festive crafts, a cosy corner to relax and explore, and a personalised meeting with Father Christmas in the welcoming Oakwell Barn.

Leeds Waits: A Series of Entertaining History Talks at Oakwell Hall
On Christmas Day, families get together to exchange gifts, eat too much, drink too much, have blazing rows and tell each other how much better Christmas was back in the day. Well, back in the days of the 17th century, things were very different: Christmas Day was for religious observance, festive but quite understated; New Year’s Day was for the exchange of gifts; and the festivities ended with the big family knees-up on Twelfth Night. Join our “family” as they get ready to party!

Santa is back once again! He will be visiting Victoria Tower on Castle Hill before he flies around the world spreading peace, joy and good will to all at Yule which is the most festive time of the year!
Please be aware it could be busy for Santa with some queuing expected.
