Vote to Name Huddersfield’s New Public Square

Name the new our cultural heart public square

We’re inviting you to help shape the future of Huddersfield town centre by choosing the name of a brandnew public square at the heart of the Our Cultural Heart development.

This new square will sit at the centre of Phase 1, right next to the new library hub and vibrant food hall. It’s designed to be a welcoming space for events, activities and everyday moments, and you have the chance to help decide what it will be called.

Choose your favourite shortlisted name

From Monday 8 June until Monday 22 June 2026, you can vote for your favourite name from a shortlist inspired by Huddersfield’s heritage, identity and proud textile history.

We’ve carefully developed the shortlist to reflect the town’s past while making sure the name feels at home in Huddersfield for years to come.

Here are the four names you can choose from:

Mill Frame Square

A name inspired by Huddersfield’s textile past, with a modern feel. It connects the town’s history with the new space being created at the heart of it.

Lions Square

A strong, confident name based on Huddersfield’s long-standing lion symbol. It reflects pride in the town and a sense of identity.

Queensgate Square

A familiar name that builds on what people already know, helping the new space feel instantly part of the town centre.

Ramsden Square

A name that recognises the Ramsden family and their role in shaping Huddersfield, linking the town’s past to its future.
