Building safety improvements are progressing well at six-storey blocks Buckden Court and Hebden Court

Buckden and Hebden Court

We’re making progress with our plans to improve building safety at Buckden Court and Hebden Court, Huddersfield. This is part of a wider building safety programme, which will see a number of locations in Kirklees undergo improvements.

These improvements are essential to keep residents safe in their homes and make sure we are meeting the latest fire safety standards.

What are the works?

We are updating the buildings by replacing the external wall insulation and installing a new sprinkler system, automatic opening vents and fire doors. We’re also adding an evacuation alert system is also being installed, and completing fire safety works so both blocks can safely return to a “stay put” policy.

Other works planned will include roofing, new windows and bathrooms.

What progress has been made?

We joined contractors, Fortem and AHR on site on the 4 June 2026 to get an update on the progress.  So far, we’ve removed the external wall insulation ready for replacement, started installing sprinklers, and upgraded fire doors, as well as windows and bathrooms in the flats. We expect all works to be completed by Spring 2027.

To be able to carry out all of the works safely; residents will need to move out of their property temporarily to ensure their full safety whilst works are carried out. Quality Liaison Officers have been giving their full support to residents during this time.

We want to thank all our tenants impacted by this for your patience and cooperation during this project. For more updates on action we’re taking on fire safety, visit our website.
