Kirklees Council Leader, Cllr Sarah Wood, has put forward a new policy for the flying of flags on council buildings, setting out a clear approach to the flags displayed at civic sites across the borough.
The new policy establishes the Union Flag, the Flag of St George and the Civic Flag of Kirklees as the council’s principal flags. It replaces the council’s previous informal approach and sets out how flags will be flown in future.
Councillor Sarah Wood, Leader of Kirklees Council, said:
“The new policy sets out a clear approach across Kirklees, while focusing on the symbols that unite us all.
“This is about having a straightforward approach to flags and celebrating the things we have in common: our country and our community.”
