World-class music is returning to Huddersfield and Dewsbury Town Halls as the 2026–27 Kirklees Concert Season gets underway.
Presented by Opera North and Kirklees Council, this year’s programme brings together an exciting mix of orchestral, chamber and organ concerts. There is something for everyone to enjoy, whether you’re a regular concert-goer or looking to experience live classical music for the first time.
The season features the Orchestra of Opera North, as well as talented musicians and guest performers from across the UK and Europe. The season brings together an exciting range of music to audiences across Kirklees.
Orchestral Concerts
Experience the sound of a full orchestra as the Orchestra of Opera North returns to Huddersfield Town Hall for another season of fantastic performances.
From much-loved works by composers including Mozart, Brahms, Mahler, Sibelius and Tchaikovsky, to lesser-known masterpieces and exciting contemporary works, the orchestral programme has plenty to discover throughout the season.
There will also be opportunities to see the Opera North Youth Orchestra, showcasing the talents of young musicians from across the North.
Chamber Lunchtime Concerts
For a more intimate musical experience, the Chamber Lunchtime Concerts at Dewsbury Town Hall feature small groups of musicians from the Orchestra and Chorus of Opera North.
The programme includes string quintets, clarinet quintets, trios and vocal performances, offering the chance to hear talented musicians up close in the beautiful surroundings of Dewsbury Town Hall.
You can also make the most of your visit with lunch available at the Town Halls before lunchtime concerts.
Organ Lunchtime Concerts
Huddersfield Town Hall’s famous ‘Father’ Willis organ will once again take centre stage for a series of lunchtime recitals.
Town Hall Organist David Pipe has brought together a fantastic line-up of guest organists from across the UK and Europe, including performers from Denmark, France, Germany and Greece.
With a programme spanning traditional favourites and contemporary works, the concerts offer the chance to experience the incredible sound of this historic instrument in one of Kirklees’ most impressive venues.
Christmas concerts
The season will also bring plenty of festive cheer, with Christmas concerts featuring the University of Huddersfield Brass Band, as well as a special Christmas Gala at Dewsbury Town Hall featuring the Orchestra of Opera North, Opera North Chorus, Youth Chorus and Young Voices.
