Kirklees libraries are bringing the story of one of the world’s most celebrated authors, the ‘Queen of Crime’ Agatha Christie to Our Cultural Heart.
Developed in partnership with the British Library and the Living Knowledge Network, the panel exhibition will arrive at the newly opened Huddersfield Library Hub on 30 October 2026.
Visitors will discover more about Christie’s iconic characters, including Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple, gain insight into her writing process and explore the extraordinary life and legacy of the world’s bestselling novelist.
Cllr Michael Simmons, Cabinet member for Adult Social Care, Public Health and Communities, said:
“Libraries are places of discovery, learning and inspiration and this exhibition is a fantastic opportunity for residents of all ages to explore the life and work of one of Britain’s greatest authors.
“Launching the exhibition in our newly refurbished Huddersfield Library makes it even more special, and we’re looking forward to welcoming visitors from across Kirklees and beyond.”
Following the October launch, the exhibition will tour libraries across Kirklees before concluding on 20 June 2027, giving communities across the district the opportunity to experience this national exhibition closer to home.
In addition to the exhibition, there will be events taking place across our libraries over the next few months including an author talk and livestream with the British Library. Further details will be announced over the coming months.
Founded by the British Library in 2016, the Living Knowledge Network is a partnership of national and public libraries that brings world-class exhibitions, cultural experiences and stories to local libraries across the UK. We have been a proud member of the network since its launch, helping residents enjoy nationally significant exhibitions without having to travel to London.
