Households are being encouraged to sign up for the new garden waste collection service before the 20% discount ends on 31 March.
How many people have signed up so far?
People taking advantage of the offer will join over 5,300 other households who’ve already signed up in the first three weeks since the service was launched.
How much is it?
Those signing up before the deadline can bag the collection service for one bin for £30 for the year, a 20% saving. A collection service for an optional second bin will cost a further £30 per year.
Cllr Naheed Mather, Cabinet Member responsible for Communities and Environment said:
“The response to the launch of the garden waste collection has been absolutely fantastic and demonstrates a desire for this service.
There is a growing appetite to do more to recycle and protect the environment we live in. This service will help us to do that, whilst offering more convenience for householders at the same time.
The garden waste we collect will be recycled locally and used for future growing projects.
I encourage households to sign up for the garden waste service now to make sure they don’t miss out on the 20% saving. They will receive their bin in time for the busy start of the gardening season and will be ready for the first collections to start.”
When will my bin be collected?
A standard brown wheelie bin will be supplied for garden waste that will be collected from the kerbside fortnightly between February and November. There will be no collections in December and January.
When will my bin be delivered?
We are planning to distribute the new brown bins in late April in time to be used for the first collections in May.
Where can I find the collection dates?
Collection dates will be available on the My Kirklees Account, online or posted to those who have signed up for the service by the end of April.
Those signing up for the service before May will have their annual renewal date delayed to the anniversary of their first collections to make sure no one misses out on a full year’s collection.
How can I sign up?
Kirklees residents can sign up using their My Kirklees Account, or go online.
How much will the bins cost after the discount period ends?
After the discount period ends the cost will rise to £37.50 for the first bin collection, and £30 for a second.
