Do you have a child who is due to start attending reception class at primary school, or transfer to a junior, middle or secondary school, in September 2024?
Kirklees school applications for next September are now open on the council website.
Although applying well before the deadline doesn’t increase the chances of securing a place at your preferred school, It does give peace of mind that the application has been received.
The process is quick, easy and secure and is done through the Parent Portal. If it’s the first time you’ve used the portal, it doesn’t take long to create an account.
You can also find out which schools are in your priority admission area (also known as catchment area) and there’s an explanation of how places are allocated.
When is the deadline?
It’s really important to make your school application on time. The deadlines to apply for a school place in September 2024 are:
- For a transfer to secondary school – apply before October 31st 2023
- For a transfer to junior or middle school – apply before January 15th 2024
- For starting in reception class at primary school – apply before January 15th 2024 (this applies to children born between September 1st 2019 and August 31st 2020)
