Family fun at Kirklees Libraries
Library Adventures
Your quest is to journey through your Library Adventures pack with six fantastic themes to explore. The Adventurer pack is full of fun crafts, reading suggestions, facts, and creative activities. You can collect stickers, bookmarks, certificates and more throughout the year.
There are separate versions of the Library Adventures pack for older and younger children. Just pick the pack which best suits your Library Adventurer when you arrive at the library.
All you need to join the Library Adventures journey, is a Kirklees library card. A library card is free and can be obtained online or in person at any Kirklees Library. No ID required.

SCRAPtastic at Oakwell Hall
Join us for Creative Crafting at Oakwell Hall this April! Unleash your creativity in a fun and family-friendly crafting workshop at Oakwell Hall. Whether you’re making a bird-themed pen pot or creating beautiful butterflies and bees, these hands-on sessions are perfect for crafters of all ages.

Easter Egg Hunt
Get outdoors and enjoy our fun Easter trail around the grounds of Cliffe House.
Wind your way through our wonderful woodland, uncovering clues that lead to a magical word before collecting your Easter Egg prize from the food kiosk in the adventure playground.
The trail is family and buggy friendly, something the whole family can enjoy.

Woodcraft
Using traditional woodcraft tools you will learn to construct a woodland sculpture to take home with you. Fully qualified instructor-led session.

Archery
Join our activity instructors in learning how to draw the arrow, balance the bow & fire at a distance target – Challenge your family members as to who can score the greatest points. All under cover so no need to worry about damp conditions.

Bushcraft
Book on for our fantastic instructor led Bushcraft activity. This is the perfect family activity for all to sit around a campfire toasting marshmallows, making & cooking your own garlic bread twist, all washed down with a warming hot chocolate.

Pond dipping
Enjoy exploring the ponds in the grounds of Cliffe House, looking out for minibeasts, bugs, and all kinds of pond life, all while learning about the environment.

Events happening in our towns and villages
Huddersfield’s Creative Piazza announces year-round programme of family events
The first event, Spring Garden, which takes place on Saturday 19 April, will see the Piazza bloom into a new season with a West Yorkshire print fair, drop-in workshops for children, families and adults, and other activities, including storytelling, skateboarding and drumming.
Family cycling
Crossley Fields Junior and Infant School, Mirfield
When? 7 – 11 April, 9.15am – 2pm
Cost? Free
Free family cycling sessions for children and parents/carers. Beginners of any age welcome, along with those wanting to improve skills and confidence.
Bring your bike or borrow one.
Dr Bike will also be there to fix any squeaky brakes, make adjustments and demonstrate general bike maintenance – Free of charge.
The Police and Bike Register will be there also on 8 and 9 April to register bikes for free on the National Cycle Database which helps prevent and recover bike theft.
Slaithwaite Fire Station, Slaithwaite, Huddersfield
When? 14 – 17 April
Cost? Free
Free family cycling sessions for children and parents/carers. Beginners of any age welcome, along with those wanting to improve skills and confidence.
Monday and Tuesday – Children aged 4-7 yrs.
Wednesday and Thursday – Children aged 8-11 yrs.
Grown ups get a chance to ride at every session!
Got a bike that needs some basic TLC? Bring it down on Monday or Thursday and a qualified mechanic will do their best to get it back up and running. Bike maintenance service on a first-come, first-served basis, during session times.
The Police and Bike Register will be there on Wednesday 16th April between 10am – 12pm to register bikes for free on the National Cycle Database which helps prevent and recover bike theft.
