  • Dewsbury – Saturday 7 – Sunday 8 December

Programme Taster

Taking place in key locations in Huddersfield and Dewsbury, town centres will be filled with local musicians, attractions, live reindeer, seasonally themed workshops and walkabout acts, and Christmas markets with gifts, food and drinks. Activities will be free for all, including live music stages, Santa’s Grotto, photo booths and snowboard and reindeer rodeo.

The main programme of events will take place on the Saturday, supported by community-organised events across the whole of the weekend.

Due to major transport and regeneration works in Huddersfield, we have planned this year’s festivities differently for the safety of residents and visitors. That means two full weekends of Christmas events and activities instead of specific light switch on ceremonies in Huddersfield and Dewsbury.

Councillor Carole Pattison, Leader of Kirklees Council and Cabinet Member for Culture, said:

“This year’s Christmas celebrations in Huddersfield and Dewsbury are shaping up to be better than ever, with a real emphasis on supporting the high street, championing our local businesses, and free family-friendly fun.

“We’re putting the spotlight on some of our fantastic, regenerated areas in Huddersfield, with a Christmas Market set to fill the newly opened event space in St Peter’s Gardens and entertainment taking place on New Street. There will be lots of ways everyone can get involved in this year’s festivities, and as usual, it is free for all to enjoy.”

Further details of the Christmas programme will be announced in the build up to the festive weekends.
