Try out an e-bike this August

Want to feel the wind in your hair, hear the whir of the wheels, but miss out on the extra effort when going up hills?

This August, EPIKS (Environmental Projects in Kirklees) are hosting e-bike taster sessions along with a DIY bike maintenance session (for all bikes).

These sessions are for over 18s only, although you can bring children along to the e-cargo bike rides.

These are relaxed sessions with no selling, they’re just an opportunity for you to see if an e-bike or e-cargo bike could work for you.

18 August at Tolson Museum, 11am – 3pm

The 45-minute session includes getting used to the bike, fitting your helmet and making sure you feel comfortable before taking a spin around the grounds. You will be joined by EPIK’s qualified cycling instructor

There will be plenty of time to get used to the bike and to ask any questions you have.

All levels of experience are welcome.

31 August, Greenhead Park, 10:30am – 2pm

Curious about ditching the car for the school run or weekend family adventures? Come try out an e-cargo bike!

This fun, free event will demonstrate how electric cargo bikes, designed to carry kids, could fit into your everyday life. Whether you’re navigating the school run, heading to the park, or tackling Kirklees’ hills, e-cargo bikes make it easy and fun to travel as a family.

  • Bring the kids — they can hop in the back and enjoy the ride while you take a test spin.
  • Check out the bikes up close and chat with the team about how they work.
  • Helmets provided for adults.
  • Ask questions, get tips, and see if a cargo bike could work for your lifestyle.
