Connecting Kirklees: Roadworks update for October 2025

Connecting Kirklees

Here are some of the planned roadworks due to start in October. For details of all roadworks, head to our Roadworks webpage and view the live maps.

There can be lots of reasons for road works including resurfacing, making repairs, improving layouts, and replacing traffic signage and markings.

We also support other organisations to carry out essential works, for example utilities companies whose pipes and wires run under the roads and developers who need to change road access to complete works.

Whatever the reason we aim to minimise disruption and complete work as efficiently as possible.

Investing in our towns

Investment in transport infrastructure is key to our wider town centre project. From potholes to bus stations, we’re committed to developing better transport links to support our exciting regeneration schemes.

Lockwood Bar, Huddersfield

Lockwood Bar in Huddersfield is part of the Huddersfield Southern Corridor improvement scheme. It has made significant progress over the last few weeks with the introduction of the new junction and traffic lights. There have been some initial concerns about the flow of traffic, however this has been addressed with additional signage and configuring the traffic lights. Road safety is our upmost priority, and we ask road users to adhere to the traffic management in place for traffic to move as smoothly as possible.

There will be some disruptions along the way, but the long-term benefits will be worth the journey. Details of transport projects in our towns and villages are available on our website.

Transpeninne Route Upgrade (TRU)

After a 30 day closure, Huddersfield Rail Station reopened on Monday 29 September. Platforms 1, 2 and 3 are in operation. Here’s more details about the multi-billion-pound project:
