New Library Adventures themes launch across Kirklees

Library adventures

Exciting new themes and creative activities are now live in libraries across Kirklees as part of the much-loved Library Adventures programme.

The latest Library Adventures packs invite young readers to dive into a world of imagination, storytelling and hands-on fun.

Is it free to join?

The free initiative is designed to boost literacy skills for children aged 4 to 11 and inspire a lifelong love of reading. Families can simply collect a pack from their local library and begin their adventure.

What new themes can children try?

The newly launched themes include Jelly Goalie, Crabby Complaints, Wild Reading Book Challenge, Brix and Blox and World Book Day. Each theme is packed with engaging activities that encourage creativity, spark curiosity and highlight brilliant books that are sure to captivate young minds.

Councillor Amanda Pinnock, Cabinet Member for Communities and Environment, said:

“Library Adventures is a fantastic scheme for children and all the family. By making reading fun, accessible and free, we’re helping children build confidence and a lifelong relationship with books – skills that will benefit them well beyond the library walls.

“Libraries are at the heart of our communities and it’s more important than ever to champion initiatives like Library Adventures.”

The programme has already proved a huge hit with children across Kirklees, and its latest launch supports the wider ambitions of the National Year of Reading, celebrating books, libraries and the vital role reading plays in children’s development.

How to join

Once children have a library card and their Library Adventures pack, the quest can begin. Library cards are available from any Kirklees library, or families can apply for membership online.
