Kirklees Council throws weight behind social worker recruitment campaign
Kirklees Council is throwing its weight behind a new social workers recruitment campaign, ‘Improving Lives’. The campaign, which is being launched across Yorkshire and Humber aims to highlight the benefits of a career in social work.
Cllr Viv Kendrick, Portfolio Holder for Children said:
“It is a huge council priority to support children and young people in enjoying the best possible start in life, helping them to fulfil their potential.
We are very proud that our own Kirklees social workers are an integral part of this campaign to show the difference that’s made, on a daily basis, in the lives of local children.
Social workers can have a huge and lasting impact in improving the lives of children, young people and families.”
‘Improving Lives’ uncovers more of what Children’s Social Work is really like and the difference practitioners make to thousands of vulnerable children and families. It features Kirklees social workers Tracy Speight and Lisa Chamberlain who talk openly and honestly about themselves and their job so that people can see the value of social work and the positive outcomes it delivers for children and families.
Although Yorkshire and Humber has one of the lowest social worker vacancy, turnover and agency worker rates in England, Children’s Social Work Matters are committed to driving improvement so that our regional has a highly skilled and motivated workforce.
Rachel Dickinson, Chair of the Yorkshire and Humber Association of Directors of Children’s Services (ADCS), Vice President ADCS nationally and Executive Director People at Barnsley Council said:
