Shepley Spring Festival 2019

Kick off the 2019 festival season with the usual line up of festival favourites and tomorrow’s folk stars, dancers, children’s festival and more.

The Shepley Spring Festival will take place at an exciting new site, less than two miles from Shepley, in the beautiful 40 acres of Storthes Hall Park. There will be concerts, workshops and sessions for you to enjoy inside The Venue, which is a great flexible space that’s dry and warm, comfortable and welcoming!

The new venue will mean more workshops and sessions for you to join in. Several of the concert artists have agreed to run song, dance and music workshops and there will be plenty of space for you to play tunes and sing songs with your friends, old and new!

• Sunday 19 May 2019

Events during the weekend will run from 3pm on Friday afternoon until approx. 9pm on Sunday evening.

Brassed Off (play with music)

Cleckheaton & Spenborough Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society present Brassed Off featuring Clifton and Lightcliffe Brass Band.

Grimley Colliery is closing with a loss of 1200 jobs together with its Brass Band, a disaster for this already dying town, but under the leadership of Danny suffering with coal dust lungs the band is transformed into British Champions. With local lass Gloria raising the money to get the band to the Royal Albert Hall.

The play was eventually made into a film featuring Pete Postlethwaite and Ewan McGregor. This is a story not to be missed.

Roger Davies & His Band

Roger Davies & His Band are guaranteed to please with their positive, upbeat, celebratory self-penned songs.

Not quite folk, not quite rock, not quite pop, but somewhere in-between with great songs expertly performed and presented.

No stranger to local audiences, Roger Davies has enjoyed sold out shows in many of Yorkshire’s theatres. He accompanied Fairport Convention on a 30 date UK tour in 2016 as their special guest and subsequently assembled a band of his own ‘Beautifully structured and expertly crafted examples of the singer-songwriters art’ Rock N Reel Magazine.

Redcoats – World Premiere

‘Our true intent is all for your delight’

Billy Butlin used Shakespeare himself to sell a seaside dream to the great British public.

Join Marsden Mechanics Hall as they delve into holiday huts, bonny babies and knobbly knees with guest appearances from Marlene Dietrich, Gracie Fields and Laurel and Hardy.

Mikron’s radiant Redcoats will guide you through 80 years of Butlins splendour with their trademark mix of fun, pathos and songs.

Cleckheaton Dinosaur Day

Cleckheaton is excited to have Dinosaur Invasion take over our town!

The family fun day will see Dr Stone and his Jurassic companions come to life during 4 interactive and energetic shows throughout the day at Savoy Square and walkabouts around the town.

Make a day of it with hot food available, an outside bar, fairground rides, story tent and stalls running along Cheapside and Albion Street.

Local schools have all been involved, decorating dinosaur models that will be on display too.
