10 October is World Mental Health Day

Mental health is something that’s incredibly important to us all, and is just as important as good physical health.
Mental health problems can affect anyone, any day of the year, but 10 October is a great day to show support for better mental health and start looking after your own wellbeing.
One in six adults experiences at least one diagnosable mental health problem in their lifetime. This is influenced by the environment in which we are born, grow, live and work, meaning many of these problems can be prevented.
Organisations across the community and care sectors have come together to make prevention a priority for mental health.
How are we supporting the day?
We showed our commitment earlier in the year by signing up to the Better Mental Health Pledge from Public Health England (PHE).
We’re working closely with PHE to make significant steps towards promoting good mental health and preventing mental health problems here in Kirklees.
What support is available in Kirklees?
There are a wealth of local community and voluntary sector support we have here to support our emotional health and wellbeing and keep us mentally well.
We all need to talk
Let’s try and normalise the mental health conversation in Kirklees and reduce stigma and discrimination for us, our families and our communities.
