Huddersfield International Market
This popular market will be bringing together over 40 stalls of continental foods and crafts offering a real taste of Europe and beyond, creating a burst of flavour in Huddersfield town centre. With something for all the family, Huddersfield’s streets will be a fantastic sensory experience with incredible smells and colourful stalls.
There will also be a variety of music and other entertainment to listen to, while people take the opportunity to taste something different.
The market will be located on New Street, Market Place, Cloth Hall Street and the upper part of King Street.
When is it?

- Saturday 12 October 2019 – 9:00am – 7:00pm

Marsden Jazz Festival
Marsden Jazz Festival attracts some of the biggest names in jazz and this year significant players from the UK jazz scene are coming to Marsden such as Cassie Kinoshi’s SEED Ensemble, Shirley Tetteh and the Alison Rayner Quintet. The festival also showcases a number of local bands, youth groups and early-career musicians.
The festival takes over the entire village of Marsden with events in over 20 venues across the village. There is also the Market in the Park, Street Food Alley, family-friendly events and the popular street parade.

Swap Shop Sew in Holmfirth
Join fairandfunky and Upcycle Fashion for ‘Swap Shop Sew’ an exclusive event all about sustainable fashion, where you can bring old clothes and SWAP them for new, SHOP for ethical, Fairtrade, organic and handmade textiles from local businesses, and SEW your own upcycled products.
Upcycle Fashion workshops and the ethical marketplace will run from 1pm-4pm.
Refreshments will be available.
- 1.00pm to 2.30pm – Clothes Drop Off
- 3.00pm to 4.00pm – Swap unwanted clothing for other pre-loved items!

*WIN* prizes in the upcycle competition: transform an unwated textile item into a new fashion item or artwork! To enter the competition, please email julia@upcycle-fashion.co.uk. Entries will be displayed at the ‘Swap Shop Sew’ exhibition, judged by a guest panel, and announced at 2.45pm.
Grandma Do You Remember Me?
Kirkheaton Church are pleased to announce that they’re hosting a full afternoon and evening of theatre and information surrounding dementia. They will welcome the Az2B theatre company to Kirkheaton Parish Church on Sat 12th Oct, they will be delivering two performances. The first being Grandma Remember Me and the second What Do You See?
The plays are 3pm to 4pm and 6.30pm to 7.30pm with Q & A sessions afterwards, and information and talk in between.

Hope Pit Explore – National Coal Mining Museum
National Coal Mining Museum are excited to once again be offering visitors the chance to enjoy an interactive exploration of the Hope Pit area of the site with their volunteer team. Discover the people, the places and the expertise that was required to support the underground miners.
Get hands-on with mining interventions and techniques and walk the Lister-Kaye Roadway that helped to convey coal to national markets.
This tour will run on at 1pm and 2pm.
