Free Parking this Christmas

Free Parking this Christmas

We are encouraging people to shop local this Christmas with free parking opportunities across its town centres.

What’s great about our town centres?

Karl Battersby, Strategic Director Economy & Infrastructure said:

“Whether you are looking for the perfect present for a friend or relative, or a specific ingredient for a party – our town centres are home to a range of independent shops and market stalls that you just won’t find in an out of town shopping centre.

“There are also plenty of well-known shops and an array of places to stop for a drink or something to eat.

Contribute to our local economy

Karl added:

“By visiting your local town this Christmas you’re not only supporting independent retailers,  you are also supporting all your friends and family who work in retail and hospitality, and helping boost the Kirklees economy.

“To make it even easier to spend time in our towns this year, the council is offering free parking sessions in our car parks and on-street parking spaces in Dewsbury, Holmfirth, and Huddersfield.”

  • Same as last year. From 2pm and 3pm is far too late to attract shoppers – no favours for shopkeepers here. It needs to include mornings.

  • By 2 or 3pm, most shoppers are looking forward to going home, not just getting started. If Kirklees really wants to attract shoppers, just make the parking free those days, all day.

  • A nice gesture but if you’re going to offer a freebie then make it worth while. To offer afternoons and after 2 and 3 is a bit of a joke

  • From 2pm or 3pm Free car parking in Huddersfield ….lol.
I will be going to medowhall or Trafford centre ..Thanks Kirklees council for NOTHING …..
