Job matching finds the right person the first time

A Cleckheaton based Manufacturer was struggling to recruit more staff. TimberTight was looking for someone motivated and ready to train up into the business. They were passionate about supporting local residents into work.

Ben’s story

When they interviewed Ben via the Works Better programme they offered to take him on as a trainee and give him a probation period to see if he would enjoy the role and was a right fit for the company.

When Ben came to Works Better for support he had low confidence and was undecided on what he wanted a career in.

Ben has been in employment for over a year now and has become an integral part of the team. He has really thrived and the company are really proud of him and where he has got to in the short time he has been there. Originally starting as a trainee Ben has progressed to a higher salary and taken on more responsibilities, becoming a fundamental part of the team and supporting the business in their growth.

With the support of the Employment and Skills provision in the district, Ben was able to grow in confidence and become more financially independent. The company has also managed to recruit and retain a dedicated employee to support their growth plans and increase their workforce.

Works Better is part funded through the European Social Fund and delivered through a collaboration of six partners (Kirklees Council, Fusion Housing and Paddock Community Trust, Calderdale Council, Newground, Wakefield Council and Groundwork) across Kirklees, Calderdale and Wakefield.

The project is receiving up to £2,875,709.00 of funding from the European Social Fund as part of the 2014-2020 European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme in England.
