What is the roadshow?
The Roadshow event is the best opportunity for local residents, businesses, schools, community groups and cycling fans to find out how they can get involved in the Tour de Yorkshire in Kirklees. You will be able to study the route maps in detail and ask questions about any road closures or parking restrictions in your area. Find out how to get involved in the official land art and best dressed business and town competitions. Organise your own local event with support from the Tour Community Fund set up by Kirklees Council for this event, or become an official volunteer Tour Maker. There will also be a limited supply of free bunting and flags for attendees.
On race weekend we will welcome many thousands of visitors to Kirklees and millions more viewers around the world will watch the event on TV. Kirklees residents and visitors can enjoy a day of festivities along the route and an extra special programme of music, entertainment, family activities and all the big screen action in Huddersfield, where the winner of the women’s race will be crowned before the male riders battle it out for stage success.
All the information you need for race day will be available on the Kirklees Council website in April, visit on our dedicated webpage for further information.
Where can we get funding to celebrate the tour?
Community grants of up to £500 are available for local community groups, businesses, schools and other organisations along the route to support the event in their area. The closing date for applications is Monday 16 March. To apply for the Kirklees Tour Community Fund click the link to find out more and apply online.
