Hundreds of eligible businesses in Kirklees still to apply for a Government coronavirus grant

4 May 2020 It is estimated that more than 900 eligible businesses in Kirklees are still to apply for a Government grant that could provide valuable financial assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We have now paid out almost £72million in Government coronavirus grants to 6389 local businesses and hundreds of applications continue to be processed every day. All eligible local businesses that apply will receive a one-off payment of either £10,000 or £25,000 and the grant doesn’t need to be paid back.

Councillor Shabir Pandor, Leader of Kirklees Council, said:

“Making sure our businesses get the support they need remains one of my priorities and we are doing everything in our power to provide assistance during this crisis. That is why we will be writing this week to all eligible businesses on our records that are still to apply for a grant, to make sure no one misses out.

These grants will provide a lifeline for many small businesses at this difficult time and I urge anyone still to apply to do so as soon as possible.

Our businesses are a crucial part of what makes Kirklees such a vibrant place to live and work, and we will continue to support them through and beyond this crisis in any way we can.”
