We’ve teamed up with local partners to help some of our most vulnerable children & young people celebrate Eid.

Children in care and care leavers will receive special food-based gift packs to mark the end of Ramadan.
How are we doing this?
We always treat children in care and care leavers on special occasions, such as Christmas, Eid and Hanukkah, but the Covid-19 restrictions have led to a different approach.
Instead of inviting the young people out for a meal, our teams will be delivering goodies and presents.
We would like to say a huge thank you for the support of Delicious Desserts takeaway in Huddersfield, My Lahore’s Cafe and local chef Rahila Hussain.
Cllr Viv Kendrick, Cabinet Member for Children, said:
“It’s important that our children and young people don’t miss out on special events and occasions.
“For some children and young people who are in care, the nicer things in life don’t come along as often.
“Our usual plans for Eid had to be cancelled this year, but we didn’t want young people to miss out at such an important time.
“With the help of some very generous donations, we’ve made sure that people can celebrate in a different way by staying at home.
“Our children and young people are very special to us and we are supporting them in a huge number of ways, helping them to stay safe and well at a very challenging time.
“The gifts help us to show how much we think of them, not just at major times in the year but every single day.”
