Interested in operating a market in Holmfirth?

Kirklees Council are inviting expressions of interest from private, public or community organisations to operate a market in the town of Holmfirth. There management of the market will be an exciting opportunity for someone with experience of setting up and running markets, looking after traders and promoting up and coming events. Holmfirth is a busy popular town for locals and visitors alike. The opening of a new market in the town will help Holmfirth thrive and provide Kirklees residents and visitors with an alternative shopping experience.

Cllr Paul Davies, Cabinet member for Culture & Greener Kirklees said:

“Operating a market in Holmfirth provides a unique opportunity for the right organisation.  This will be a completely new market and the organiser will need to identify the best location for the market to take place.  Holmfirth has a strong reputation for independent shops and a new market could really enhance this offer.  Whilst our town centres are only open for essential shopping during lockdown, the council remains committed to the longer-term economic recovery of all our towns and villages.  A vibrant market can bring a real buzz to the town, support the local economy and give visitors and shoppers more choice and provide access to a great selection of local produce & crafts.”

To take up the opportunity to operate a market in Holmfirth, email Matthew Garbutt matthew.garbutt@kirklees.gov.uk expressing your interest in this opportunity no later than 31 January 2021.  Applicants will need to provide details of where and when they would look to operate a market. Kirklees Council will then provide further information following your expression of interest.
