Huddersfield Library – Ring and Read service for adults

Our Ring and Read offer will be available at Huddersfield Library from 12 April.  Please call us on 01484 414868 to order a selection of books.  Staff will choose these books for you, ready to collect at your pre-arranged time.

Meltham Library is also doing a ring and read offer, please call on the same number.

IT offer – how to book

You can book a 45 minute slot (to allow for cleaning between uses) by ringing Kirklees Libraries on 01484 414868 or by accessing our online booking system.

Rules to follow

Visitors will be asked to provide contact details for the Test and Trace programme and also to wear a face covering inside library buildings as per government guidance.  Due to limited capacity, visitors may be asked to queue outside during busy periods.

Health and safety is key

Health and safety has been at the heart of preparations as we work hard to make sure visitors, staff and volunteers remain safe as further library services are re-introduced. Controlling the spread of the virus is critical and visitors will be reminded to stick to government guidelines.

Returning books

When visiting, please place books to return in the green waste bins marked with Kirklees Libraries stickers. Do not remove any items from the bin.

COVID-19 test centres and Polling Station libraries

Batley and Greenwood (Ravensthorpe) libraries are still being used as COVID testing centres.

The following libraries are due to be used as polling stations for upcoming local elections in May:

  • Birstall
  • Cleckheaton
  • Denby Dale
  • Kirkburton
  • Mirfield

They will re-open as soon as possible once elections are over.
