Brambles Primary Academy to open new school building in September
The return to school this September will be all the more exciting for pupils and staff at Brambles Primary Academy with the opening of their new school building.
Funded by Kirklees Council, building works are currently underway to create the new school building complete with classrooms, dining area and curriculum support spaces. There will also be expanded kitchen facilities and investment in play areas.
Despite Covid restrictions causing some delays, the main building groundworks and foundations at the site on Clare Hill in Huddersfield are now predominately complete, with roofing and internal structures starting to take shape.
Established in September 2018, the school has three year groups which are currently being taught in temporary modular buildings.
When the new building opens, it will offer these children and staff top quality facilities in a pleasant and modern learning environment. The additional space also allows the school to offer more places for children of local families as it continues to expand over the coming years, up to a maximum capacity of 420 pupils.
David Shepherd, Strategic Director for Growth and Regeneration said:
“This investment at Brambles Primary Academy demonstrates our shared goal for each and every child to be happy, healthy and to enjoy the best start in life. The new, modern facilities and additional space the new building provides will enrich the learning and developmental environment for our children for years to come.
There’s still work to be done, but things are on schedule to complete in time to welcome children back for the September term. We wish all the children, their families, and the staff at Brambles the best start to their school life in their new building when it opens.”
Sallie Dodd, Principal of Brambles Primary Academy commented:
“The whole community, parents, children and staff at Brambles Primary Academy are incredibly excited to see the daily progress of our new academy building. The children visit the site daily, they are fascinated and thrilled to see their new school grow, the children’s interest in the construction is inspiring. We are all preparing for September when we open our new building and start the new school year in our brand new environment.”
Roz Batley, Operations Director for South Pennine Academies added:
“South Pennine Academies are delighted to be working in partnership Brambles Primary Academy and Kirklees. The Academy’s vision to provide high quality education, with the children at the heart of every decision made, fully aligns with the Trust’s vision and values. The fantastic new facilities will fully support the rich and stimulating curriculum and give every child the opportunity to learn and to flourish.”
When is the new building due to be completed?
The new building is scheduled to be completed in September 2021.
