Important Local Elections Update

It’s polling day on Thursday! Voters across Kirklees will be going to the polls to elect their local councillors as well as choosing their first Mayor for West Yorkshire.

The COVID-19 pandemic means that this year’s elections are a bit different. There are a few things to remember so that everyone gets the chance to make their vote count.

Postal voting

More local residents than ever before have chosen to vote by post. If you applied for a postal vote but haven’t received your postal vote ballot pack, it’s really important that you contact our electoral services team straight away.  Our team are on-hand right now to make sure your vote counts.

The electoral services team are available everyday including Bank Holiday Monday.

Voting in person

If you’re planning to vote in person on Thursday, there will be a few changes to your usual election day. First, you need to check where your polling station is. This will be on your polling card or you can look it up at: https://wheredoivote.co.uk. We are also taking extra steps to keep everyone safe by providing hand sanitiser at every polling station and making sure everyone can socially distance as they register their vote.
