Tackling health inequalities with Wellness on Wheels

Kirklees Wellness Van and 3 members of staff stood in front of the van.

We will launch a new initiative on 02 June that aims to tackle health inequalities in the borough.

Staff will be using the Wellness on Wheels van (pictured) to offer health and wellbeing support in communities where residents are more likely to suffer from long term health conditions.

What support is on offer?

Run by the Kirklees Wellness Service, residents can access support for a range of health issues such as stopping smoking, achieving a healthy weight and becoming more physically active.

Councillor Musarrat Khan, Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care said:

“I am delighted to see the launch of this new initiative.  As a council we are committed to tackling health inequalities and the Wellness on Wheels van will help our residents to achieve better health outcomes for themselves and their children.”

I look forward to seeing the van out and about and would urge people to stop for a chat if they have any concerns about their health.”

Where will the van be?

The van will first be seen on 02 and 03 June in Cleckheaton’s Tesco car park from 10am.
