Walking for Wellbeing with The Rambler’s Association

Ramblers, a UK wide walking charity has recently launched a website to promote healthy living and encourage everyone to get some fresh air.

The website makes it easy to find local walking groups across Kirklees and uses Ordinance Survey maps to show established routes across our beautiful pocket of Yorkshire countryside.

Walks can be anywhere from the countryside, around the block, to the shops or a stroll at the local park. It’s all about enjoying being outside in the fresh air and taking some time to take care of your wellbeing.

Find a local walk

Working with the Rambler’s, our Everybody Active team have set walks all over Kirklees. From the North to the South and everywhere in between! Simply search for your area on ramblers.org and nearby routes, groups and events will be listed.

The new website allows you to narrow your search and add filters. This is to make sure the walk is at your pace and suitable for you. You can filter walks, so it is dog friendly and has wheelchair accessibility. In addition, you can change the length of the walk (from under 5km to over 16km) and more. Whether you’re looking for a short or long walk, there’s something for everyone.

The Ramblers Association

The Ramblers Association was created in 1935 and is the only charity dedicated to removing barriers. As a result, everyone can enjoy walking in green spaces, leading the way, and the walks, for a vibrant community united by the joys of walking, helping everyone get more out of their walks.

About Everybody Active

Everybody Active is a Kirklees-wide partnership that makes it easier for people to be active and for activity to be an enjoyable part of everyday life.

The team is working with Ramblers to deliver FREE wellbeing walk leader training across communities in Kirklees.  They are also developing new walks within communities. Please contact everybody.active@kirklees.gov.uk for further information.

You can also follow them on Twitter and Facebook.

The film was produced in association with Sport England with funds from the National Lottery.
