Kirklees Council in running for four leading local government awards

Four of our teams have successfully made the shortlist for a local government award, in recognition of the services they deliver for residents.

The Local Government Chronicle Awards, recognise the achievements of council teams and staff throughout the country. With the aim to promote innovation and improve services.

The teams shortlisted are:

  • Kirklees Better Outcomes Partnership.
    For the work to support people with vulnerabilities, disabilities, and lifestyle issues to secure accommodation, improve their health and wellbeing, and be independent.
  • Kirklees School Catering Service.
    Who make sure that pupils in the 152 primary and secondary schools in Kirklees continued to receive hot meals and ensured that every school kitchen remained open throughout the pandemic.
  • The Local Integrated Partnerships.
    Set up to provide tailored, inclusive and accessible services to support Kirklees communities during the pandemic.
  • The Active Citizens and Democracy team.
    The team engages with young people through Democracy Friendly Schools. To help them learn about and feel part of local democracy and civic life in Kirklees.

Councillor Paul Davies, Kirklees Council’s Cabinet Member for Corporate Services, said:

“I’m proud that the hard work and dedication of our council staff has been recognised at these competitive national awards.

To be shortlisted in four different categories speaks volumes about the teams commitment and perseverance to provide the very best services to our residents. Especially during challenging pandemic times.”

Winners are set to be announced at the LGC Awards ceremony on 20 July 2022.
