Award-winning literary festival returns to Huddersfield

Huddersfield Literature Festival returns with a bang, promising exciting adventures, stories, music and fun!

When is the festival? 

The festival will run from 24 March to 3 April and the award-winning event will showcase bestselling authors, emerging writers, artists, workshops and events suitable for young people and families.

The events will be held virtually, and at several venues in Huddersfield. The festival is designed to bring communities together and celebrate diversity. It is also a platform for artists and authors to share their work.

The theme for this year’s event is ‘one world’ which celebrates our world and focuses on the responsibility of taking care of the planet.

Kirklees Libraries will be supporting the festival by hosting some of the events.

 A handful of the festival events include:

  • Cultural connections conference (Thursday 24 March). An opportunity for festival and cultural event organisers to network, share best practice and hear from industry experts.

 

  • Open Mic hosted by Sharena Lee Satti (Friday 25 March). A welcoming Open Mic hosted by Bradford-based poet Sharena Lee Satti.

 

  • Stafflex Free Family Day (Saturday 26 March). Our free event for families, with stalls, activities and interactive entertainment.

 

  • How to solve a crime: The A-Z of Forensic Science (Friday 26 March). In How to Solve a Crime, Professor Gallop takes readers behind the police tape and into the heart of the crime scene.

 

  • Adventures Around Our Blue and Green Planet (Saturday 26 March). Pull on your backpack, lace up your boots and set off on an adventure around our wonderful world!

 

  • Northerners: A History (2nd April). Learn how the people of the North have shaped Britain and the world in unexpected ways.

 

  • Poetry Slam (2nd April). Watch 10 amazing poets battle through spoken word to become the HLF 2022 Slam Champ.
