Oakwell Hall Country Park welcomes a new Café
Oakwell Hall’s newest addition, The Countryside Café opened last weekend just in time for the Easter holidays.
Where is the cafe located?
Located at the Lower End car park opposite the playground. The building that used to be the visitor centre has been given a new lease of life.
Selling a selection of hot and cold food and drinks, snacks and a variety of luxurious ice creams. Visitors can sit in, out, or takeaway, seven days a week.
Information on mining heritage in the area hasn’t been lost.
The images, information and artifacts that were previously displayed in the visitor centre have been retained and are on display on the walls inside the cafe.
The opening of the Countryside Café now provides visitors to Oakwell Hall Country Park with a selection of places to eat, further complementing the existing Oak Tree Café which is set in the grounds of Oakwell Hall.
Will there be toilets available?
The café opening has also enabled the reopening of the toilets attached to the building. And these will now be available during café opening hours.
Colin Parr, Strategic Director for Environment and Climate Change said:
“I’m delighted we have been able to bring a building back into use that not only retains some of its original purpose – providing history on the local area – but offers an additional facility to the park.
“The opening of the Countryside Café will further enhance the experience for visitors to the historic Oakwell Hall Country Park.”
What are the opening times?
The cafe and toilets will be open Monday to Friday 10 am – 4 pm, Saturday and Sunday 9.30 am – 4 pm.
