‘Let’s Talk About Dying’, with Kirklees Libraries and The Kirkwood

As part of this year’s national Dying Matters Awareness Week, Kirklees Libraries, together with The Kirkwood, are encouraging people, young and old to come together and talk openly about death, dying and bereavement at a free event.

Tuesday 3 May, 1pm – 4pm, Dewsbury Library

Staff from The Kirkwood will be available on to offer additional advice and support, share practical guidance and information. There will be a range of suitable books available for adults and children. The event is free and there is no need to book, simply pop in.

Share you experiences or take comfort in others

Share your favourite recipes and food, and the memories they ignite of a loved one that has passed away. Join in with an open mic session and read a poem, a passage from a book, or words that make you smile or feel sad.

If you don’t feel like you want to talk, that’s ok. Come along and listen to others, have a drink, and browse the books and information.

Safe spaces

Kirklees Libraries across the borough are safe spaces for anyone to find comfort and talk openly about their own experiences of loss, bereavement, death, and end of life.
