Invite the Mayor of Kirklees to your event
Cllr Masood Ahmed was elected as The Mayor of Kirklees in a special ceremony held at Huddersfield Town Hall.
It has already been a busy start for the Mayor! More community groups, businesses, schools and charities have been sending invites to the Civic Office. Cllr Ahmed is wanting this to carry on as he looks to visit as many people as possible for the rest of the year.
Invite the Mayor to your event
The Mayor attends a number of engagements from school visits, business openings, charity events, award presentations, notable birthdays and commemorative events to name a few. To give your event that extra special touch why not invite the Mayor by simply completing our invite the Mayor form. It only takes a couple of minutes to fill in.
It also helps giving the Civic Office as much notice as possible so arrangements can be made.

Who is the Mayor?
Cllr Ahmed has represented the Dewsbury South Ward for almost 16 years.
He was elected in 2006 and has chaired District Area Committees and Licensing and Safety Committee, been a member of the Fostering and Adoption Panel and chaired Kirklees Council Community Safety Partnership Executive.
Cllr Ahmed has also been chair of Kirklees Council’s Armed Forces Covenant board. He is joined by his daughter Iram Ahmed as Mayoress.
What is the role of Mayor of Kirklees?
It is a Civic, ceremonial position – one which is elected every year. They are the first citizen of Kirklees and represents and promote the borough at local and national events. The Mayor also has the responsibility of charing Full Council meetings.
