Help sought to protect cherished Castle Hill site
Our Castle Hill Ranger Julian Brown is asking for willing volunteers to join him on a summer litter pick at the Green Flag Award winning site and would like to remind people of the dangers of using BBQ’s.
There is a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) in place across Kirklees to ban BBQs, sky lanterns and fireworks with a fine in place for those who breach this order.
The prolonged dry weather and the use of BBQs has the potential to do untold damage to our cherished landmark, endanger life and destroy biodiversity.
Summertime sees scores of visitors to Castle Hill, which unfortunately can lead to an increase in litter being left at the site. Castle Hill Ranger Julian Brown welcomes any help from the community to support him in keeping this site clean and safe for people and wildlife.
The litter pick will take place at Castle Hill, Huddersfield, on Friday 26 August from 10 am to 12 noon and is open to everyone. All equipment including disposable gloves, sanitiser and litter pickers will be provided.
