Going for gold at Cleckheaton Library
If you’ve been down to Cleckheaton Library recently, you may have noticed the sweet, sweet smell of award winning shrubs, borders and hard work as Cleckheaton in Bloom, a voluntary group, have been working tirelessly to improve the large, beautiful outdoor space.
Garden transformation
Establish in 2021, the voluntary organisation, was established to help improve Cleckheaton for residents and visitors alike and they have helped transform the grounds surrounding the library building. Working with the Rotary Club of Cleckheaton, volunteers installed a ‘Jubilee Arch’ to mark Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee. They are now busy completing a new Nature Trail, which include a reading corner and bug hotels!
Well deserved awards
After impressing local residents, Cleckheaton in Bloom were invited to enter the annual ‘Yorkshire in Bloom’ competition in recognition of the progress they made in such a short time. Not only that, but they were also awarded ‘Gold’ in the Discretionary Yorkshire Rose Awards for ‘Best New Entry’. They’ve also been graded as ‘Thriving’ in the ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ at the recent Britain in Bloom awards. Amazing work!
