It’s time to grow a tash, Movember is back!

Movember takes place throughout November and supports three important men’s health issues: Mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.

You can take part in the movember movement by sporting a moustache for the month, moving more or joining in the conversation to raise awareness.

If you or someone you know needs mental health support there are lots of organisations and services available, for more information please visit: www.kirklees.gov.uk/mentalhealth

Support from Social Prescribing

The Social Prescribing team support people to improve their health, wellbeing, and social welfare by connecting them to services and activities in their local community. The team can offer support and services for people struggling with mental health concerns. You can access these services if you are registered with a Kirklees GP. One such resident is David, who wrote a poem on his experience with the Social Prescribing team:

Social prescribing for mental health by David Crabb

Alone with my thoughts

Some happy

But many not so.

Reaching out

A Doctor

Intervenes

Suggests

Social prescribing.

With trepidation

I accept.

A friendly face

Supportive chat

Over a summer walk

And a coffee.

Putting the world

To rights

Whilst building

Confidence

To move on

To positive

Mental wellbeing.
